An crime scene was eventually discovered on Sanford Drive in Lemon Grove
SAN DIEGO — A teenager showed up at a South Bay hospital with a gunshot wound Monday night, prompting at least three law enforcement agencies to search for a crime scene that sheriff’s officials eventually pinpointed to a Lemon Grove neighborhood, authorities said.
The victim, a 17-year-old boy, was dropped off at Paradise Valley Hospital in National City after 9 p.m., according to authorities. He was later transferred to a trauma center at a San Diego hospital.
His wound was described as “moderate” but not life-threatening.
San Diego police, San Diego sheriff’s deputies and National City police were all involved in searching for where the shooting occurred, San Diego police Officer Yovanna Gonzalez said.
After first placing the crime scene in the Jamacha-Lomita neighborhood of San Diego, investigators eventually determined the shooting had occurred on Sanford Drive near Skyline Drive in Lemon Grove, sheriff’s officials said.
Sheriff’s detective Sgt. Scott Roller said late Tuesday morning he couldn’t divulge details about the shooting, adding that the investigation was “very active.”
